Kitchen Equipment Overhauls Weiser’s Senior Meals

  • Local Champion: Weiser Senior Citizens
  • Date Funded: September 23, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $17,465

Each month, the Weiser Senior Community Center serves more than 1,600 meals to local seniors, providing vital nutrition five days a week through both congregate dining and home delivery. However, the center’s aging kitchen equipment has become unreliable, putting this essential meal service at risk. When staff at the senior center grew concerned about their ability to safely prepare meals for Weiser’s growing senior population, they reached out to LOR with an idea: overhaul the senior center’s kitchen. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser Senior Community Center purchase a new gas range, griddle, microwave, heating cabinet, and other supplies so that volunteers can continue providing nutritious weekday meals to seniors who depend on this critical service.
