Internet Connection Powers Monte Vista’s Veterans Museum

  • Local Champion: Homelake Historic Preservation and Restoration Foundation
  • Date Funded: March 17, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $1,127

The Homelake Veterans’ History Museum in Monte Vista provides free tours and preserves important military history, but it lacks the internet service needed for the museum’s board and volunteers to effectively communicate with the public and veteran organizations. One member of the museum’s board recognized this technical gap was limiting the museum’s ability to conduct digital operations and outreach, so he contacted LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the museum secure internet service for two years, allowing the board and volunteers to host Zoom meetings, promote special functions, and better connect with state-level veteran organizations. The new connectivity will also enhance security measures for protecting archives and war records, ensuring this vital community asset can better serve Monte Vista residents and visitors.
