Grooming Libby’s Baseball and Softball Infields is Getting Much Easier

  • Local Champion: Libby American Legion Baseball, Inc.
  • Date Funded: April 3, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $29,975

As a result of erosion, overuse, and inconsistent maintenance, the baseball and softball fields in Libby are unsafe—with uneven rock, sand, and gravel in the infields. The baseball and softball program volunteers wanted to fix the problem, but had no efficient way to groom the multiple fields and therefore haven’t been able to improve the playing surface for the 325 youth players throughout town. To address the issue, volunteers contacted the LOR Foundation, which helped Libby American Legion Baseball purchase an ABI Force Zero Turn Infield Groomer to improve the infield surface and make it safer for youth and adults to play on the fields in Libby.
