Gap Funding Keeps Weiser’s Care Cruisers on the Road

  • Local Champion: Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation
  • Date Funded: May 22, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $9,999

Weiser’s Care Cruisers transportation program has served nearly 500 residents with over 1,100 rides to medical appointments since launching in 2024. But rising fuel costs and the loss of funding now threaten to interrupt this critical service. After Weiser Memorial Hospital and Weiser Activity Center for Seniors staff recognized the program was at risk, they reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation cover fuel and driver costs to keep the van running while the Weiser Activity Center for Seniors takes over operations by the end of 2026. The bridge funding will ensure uninterrupted transportation access for seniors and disabled residents while the senior center finalizes permanent funding for the program.
