Football Equipment Expands Youth Sports Access in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: City of Monte Vista
  • Date Funded: December 9, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $6,800

An increasing number of Monte Vista youth are interested in joining local recreational football programs, but financial barriers and limited equipment often make it difficult for them to participate. After seeing enrollment grow by 20%—reaching nearly 100 young athletes—staff from the City of Monte Vista Recreation Department reached out to LOR for help supporting this growing interest.

LOR’s funding will help purchase shoulder pads and mouth guards for the recreation department’s football program, ensuring that all Monte Vista youth in grades 1–5 have access to safe, high-quality gear as they learn the sport before joining school teams. The new equipment will help create a more inclusive environment where every young athlete can participate, build confidence, and develop their skills—regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
