Food Delivery Program Supports Monte Vista Agricultural Workers

  • Local Champion: Front Line Farming Inc.
  • Date Funded: March 18, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $11,692

Monte Vista agricultural workers and their families face significant barriers to accessing healthy, affordable food due to economic hardship, long work hours, and limited transportation to regional distribution sites. After years of building trust with farmworkers across the San Luis Valley, a team member with Los Promotores identified an opportunity to bring food and essential resources directly to workers at their worksites and reached out to LOR with a plan.

LOR’s funding will support stipends for two promotoras, the purchase of tote bags and hygiene kits, and gas costs for 15 food distribution events serving approximately 100 families every two weeks from May through December.

These mobile distributions will deliver culturally appropriate food directly to farms and potato warehouses in Monte Vista, reducing transportation barriers while also connecting Spanish-speaking agricultural workers with educational materials and support for scheduling medical appointments with Spanish-speaking providers.
