Flexible GEDs Advance Careers in Cortez

  • Local Champion: Unlimited Learning
  • Date Funded: December 12, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $3,300

Obtaining a GED diploma can make a difference for those who want to advance their careers or acquire a new skill. Cortez has traditional GED programs, but for some residents a certificate remains out of reach because their work schedule conflicts with classes. Staff at Unlimited Learning saw an immediate need to create a flexible alternative so that more residents could earn their diplomas. In need of support, they approached LOR. LOR’s funding will help kickstart Unlimited Learning’s new flexible GED program, covering instructor costs for the first six months. Once up and running, Unlimited Learning staff will work to secure long-term funding so that current and future Cortez residents can continue to solidify their careers.
