Event Supplies and Prizes Help to Launch an Extreme Sports Competition in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Community Fund, Inc.
  • Date Funded: June 23, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $2,380

Monte Vista lacks events that promote outdoor recreation, foster community engagement, and contribute to the local economy, a problem one member of the Monte Vista Community Fund set out to solve. Recognizing the potential of Montez Skate Park as a venue, she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Monte Vista Community Fund purchase prizes, concession supplies, and promotional materials to launch the inaugural “WOW Games,” Monte Vista’s first competitive extreme sports event. The annual competition will showcase local youth talent, attract visitors from surrounding areas, and generate proceeds that support Monte Vista’s local child care and youth development program, creating a new tradition that promotes outdoor recreation, supports the community, and stimulates the local economy.
