Evaporation Fans Support Safer Conditions for Student Athletes in Questa

  • Local Champion: Questa Independent School District
  • Date Funded: September 13, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $12,648

In the 30-plus years since the construction of Questa High School’s gymnasium, the temperatures in New Mexico have risen significantly, with hot days stretching further into the academic year. The gym does not have air conditioning, and as a result, students, staff, and game-day spectators have begun to experience high levels of discomfort and even heat exhaustion.

To reduce the health risks for individuals during physical education classes, team practices, and competitions, two school employees reached out to LOR with a cost-effective solution: purchase three large evaporation fans to help control the temperature in the gym.

LOR’s support will fund the purchase of three fans to cool the gymnasium and support opportunities for safe physical activity at Questa High School.
