End-of-Life Resources Help Cortez Families Reduce Trauma

  • Local Champion: Hospice of Montezuma
  • Date Funded: November 20, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Cortez individuals and families face dramatic life changes as loved ones enter end-of-life stages, and because Cortez is so rural there are limited support services. With these issues in mind, a staffer at Hospice of Montezuma approached the LOR Foundation to discuss the gaps in helping families in this situation. Ultimately, the staffer identified several areas that needed support. Funding from LOR will be used to launch new activities and programs for Cortez residents to help support end-of-life care, including wellness education, children’s bereavement support, caregiver support, pet services, and volunteer support to help ease the burdens that arise when families lose loved ones.
