Elevating Learning: Standing Desks Boost Student Engagement at Libby Elementary

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: April 11, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $1,920

Elementary students tend to have a lot of energy, and often that translates to frequent moving and wiggling. Yet, many schools are not set up to handle that energy. Sedentary classrooms give students few options to work through their excitement, which can hamper their participation and harm their learning. The technology teacher at Libby Elementary School wanted to keep kids more involved in class. Her simple but effective idea? Standing desks. LOR’s funding will help Libby Elementary purchase a dozen adjustable standing desks for its technology lab, improving learning by making students active participants in the classroom.
