Educational Materials Help Lander Ditch Users Understand Their Rights—and Each Other

  • Local Champion: Popo Agie Conservation District
  • Date Funded: November 22, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $2,805

Water rights and maximizing water flows can be tricky topics to navigate, something the Healthy Rivers Initiative (HRI) often runs into with Lander ditch users, particularly those who might be new landowners and are just learning. This can leave community members and neighbors frustrated with each other. Staff at HRI recognized one solution is more education and worked with the Popo Agie Conservation District to come up with a plan to create flyers, pamphlets, ditch models, and live water measurement gauges to educate Lander ditch users about what and how different conditions affect water flow. They just needed a little help to get the effort going and reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will help cover the cost of equipment to build three irrigation models as well as marketing materials to promote the program among Lander ditch users.
