Community Education Connects Libby Residents to Asbestos Resources

Many Libby residents continue to be affected by asbestos but aren’t aware of available health care resources or opportunities to participate in research that could improve medical care and services. Staff with the Center for Asbestos Related Disease (CARD) wanted to address this gap, so they reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help CARD collaborate with scientists to host a two-day community forum featuring scientific presentations, a meet and greet, question and answer sessions, and a research rally focused on educating families. The project will give residents a chance to share their experiences with health care providers and scientists, ensuring that future asbestos research and resources better address the community’s needs.
