Camera Equipment Improves Visibility for Taos Businesses and Events

  • Local Champion: Taos County Chamber of Commerce
  • Date Funded: February 25, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $795

Taos businesses and community events often lacked consistent access to high-quality visual coverage, with ribbon cuttings, networking events, and public gatherings typically captured in low-resolution phone photos. This has limited public awareness, participation, and the visibility of local economic activity—particularly for small businesses that lack independent marketing capacity and rely on Chamber promotion.

Recognizing the growing role that image and video quality play in public engagement, a staff member at the Taos Chamber of Commerce identified a practical solution: purchase a dedicated camera to improve documentation of business milestones and community events.

LOR’s funding helped the Taos Chamber of Commerce purchase a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera kit with lens and basic accessories. The equipment will be used to capture professional-quality images of ribbon cuttings, business openings, and community events, with the Chamber establishing guidelines to ensure the camera serves the charitable, public-benefit purpose of increasing awareness and participation in local economic activity.
