Bottled Water Keeps Taos’ Unhoused Community Hydrated

  • Local Champion: DreamTree Project, Inc.
  • Date Funded: June 17, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $6,000

Many unhoused individuals in Taos lack consistent access to clean, safe drinking water, especially during the hot and dry summer months when dehydration becomes a serious health risk. Staff with DreamTree Project knew the problem needed an immediate solution, so they reached out to LOR with an idea: partner with a local grocery store to purchase discounted pallets of bottled water. LOR’s funding will help DreamTree purchase two to three pallets of water per month during the summer and one to two pallets during the winter, allowing shelter staff and street outreach teams to distribute safe drinking water to clients year-round.
