Bike Rodeo Promotes Cycling and Safety for Taos Riders

  • Local Champion: City of Taos
  • Date Funded: May 24, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $3,000

Taos does not have dedicated bike lanes, making safe biking practices even more critical to reducing the risk of crashes and injuries on the road. But many young cyclists lack awareness of bike safety, so a town employee and a staff member from Kit Carson Electric reached out with an idea: host a Bike Rodeo for young riders featuring activities designed to promote cycling as a fun hobby and form of exercise while reinforcing essential safety skills. LOR’s funding will help subsidize the cost of the helmets, bike pumps, and other cycling equipment that organizers will distribute to help Taos residents of all ages get where they’re going safely.
