An Emergency Support Program Boosts Attendance for Monte Vista Elementary Students

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista School District No. C-8
  • Date Funded: May 22, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Many Monte Vista elementary students and their families experience temporary hardship and crises, which increase anxiety and contribute to higher rates of absenteeism. Monte Vista School District’s elementary counselors noticed a growing number of students whose learning was affected by family crises, so they reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help Monte Vista School District establish a program that provides gift cards, rental assistance, vehicle repair funds, and home maintenance support for families, reducing barriers to learning and improving attendance for nearly two dozen students.
