A Van Lift Expands Health Care Access in Weiser

Many Weiser residents struggle to reach medical appointments due to a lack of transportation, particularly those who use wheelchairs or cannot climb steps into vehicles. After working for over a year to establish a medical transportation program, one Weiser Memorial Hospital community health worker and staff with Weiser Senior Citizens reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser Senior Community Center purchase a wheelchair lift and dispatch software for their van. The new equipment will help the senior center kickstart a comprehensive transportation service that will help elderly, disabled, veteran, and other residents travel to health care appointments in Weiser and beyond.
