A Transportation Solution Helps Taos Seniors Compete as Olympians

  • Local Champion: Taos Senior Olympics
  • Date Funded: May 1, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $2,300

Taos is home to some incredible senior athletes, and as these locals prepare for the 2023 New Mexico Senior Olympics in Las Cruces, they’re facing a key problem: transportation. Several of the athletes—cyclists, pickleball players, shuffleboard players, and more—are capable of driving around Taos to access training, but the nearly six hour drive south is too much for some to do on their own. To address this problem, team members met with the LOR Foundation and brought forward a solution. With LOR’s help, the Taos Senior Olympians are chartering a bus to Las Cruces so they can compete for Olympic glory as a team.
