A Taos Weekly Wellness Program Brings Community and Business

Taos residents lack consistent, no-cost opportunities to connect with neighbors and stay active together, while at the same time ongoing road construction has disrupted downtown traffic flow and significantly impacted local businesses. To address both challenges, a father-daughter duo came up with a solution and reached out to LOR. Their idea? Launch “Meet Me at McCarthy”—a free weekly walking, jogging, and running program every Monday evening in downtown Taos. LOR’s funding will help Downtown Taos purchase water stations, raffle prizes, and other supplies to launch the program. Participants will receive safety lights, follow mapped routes through downtown, and receive t-shirts and other rewards for regular attendance—creating healthy community connections while bringing foot traffic back to local businesses.
