A Simple Gift Shows Student Appreciation for Libby Coaches

  • Local Champion: Libby K-12 Schools
  • Date Funded: April 8, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $548

Coaches are instrumental in the lives of young adults. They take time away from their families and their own lives to teach young athletes lessons like loyalty and courage that go far beyond the bounds of a field or court. Yet often their hard work and dedication is overlooked. At lunch with a school administrator and LOR’s Libby community officer, Libby Middle High School students expressed how much their coaches had shaped them. They wanted to show their appreciation and gratitude and had the idea to give each coach an inspirational book. LOR’s funding will help the students and Libby Public Schools purchase 65 copies of “The Greatest Coach Ever: Timeless Wisdom and Insights of John Wooden” to give to district coaches and administrators, a simple but meaningful reminder that they are valued.
