A New Water Line Preserves Weiser’s Train Depot and Railroad Tracks

  • Local Champion: Weiser Architectural Preservation Committee
  • Date Funded: June 11, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $8,450

The historic Weiser Train Depot’s original water line dates back to the early 1900s, and like any aging infrastructure it has it’s share of problems. The line recently developed a leak under the depot’s railroad tracks, creating both a safety hazard for train operations and forcing the popular community venue to operate without interior water. After learning that the old line needed immediate abandonment, one volunteer with the Weiser Architectural Preservation Committee, which runs the depot, reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser Architectural Preservation Committee hire contractors to cap the old leaking line and install a new water connection to the building. The repair will both improve railroad safety and restore the depot’s water, allowing the community to continue using the venue for weddings, family reunions, and other celebrations.
