A Mobile Education Library Fills the Gap Left by the Closure of Lander’s Children’s Museum

  • Local Champion: Hudson Baptist Church
  • Date Funded: March 1, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $29,900

Since the Lander Children’s Museum closed in 2023—a casualty of COVID-19—Lander youth over the age of five have lacked opportunities to access extracurricular learning resources in a fun and engaging way. So a Lander parent and active volunteer worked with Hudson Baptist Church to come up with a creative solution: Develop a mobile learning education library staffed by volunteers that’s filled with science, math, literature, history, and music resources and equipment that individuals, families and groups can check out. The library would welcome resource and equipment donations from the community. The volunteers just needed a little help to launch the idea. LOR’s support will help purchase a trailer to house the library as well as equipment and resources to get it off the ground.
