A Medical Equipment Washer Improves Home Health Care in Cortez

  • Local Champion: Hospice of Montezuma
  • Date Funded: March 26, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $21,095

Medical equipment can be prohibitively expensive for many Cortez residents recovering from injuries or aging at home, yet donated equipment often sits unused while waiting to be properly sanitized. It’s a problem that staff with Hospice of Montezuma set out to solve. Their idea? Purchase a medical equipment washer. LOR’s funding will help Hospice of Montezuma purchase an industrial washer that can quickly and thoroughly sanitize donated medical equipment, from wheelchairs to walkers. The specialized equipment will allow the nonprofit’s staff to more efficiently process donated equipment and get it back into circulation—ensuring that Cortez residents of all ages can borrow the medical equipment they need free of charge.
