A Creation Station Brings Arts and Crafts to Weiser Kids

  • Local Champion: Weiser City Police Department
  • Date Funded: March 29, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $9,717

The Weiser Police Department’s free after-school program serves roughly 40-50 children, giving local kids a safe place to learn and play outside of school. The free program is especially important for families during summer break. Staff with the police department wanted to encourage kids and families to participate in the program, so they came up with the idea to launch a new “creation station” where kids could participate in arts and crafts and other fun activities during the summer. The Weiser Police Department has a limited budget and did not have the funding to purchase supplies for the program, so staff reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help the department buy art supplies like paint, paper, and brushes, as well as tables, chairs, and storage bins. The new creation station will keep kids engaged and safe, a win-win for families and the Weiser community.
