A Cleaner Popo Agie River Has Community-Wide Benefits in Lander

For years, the Popo Agie Conservation District (PACD) has been working to get the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie delisted from the Department of Environmental Quality’s list of contaminated rivers. Unfortunately, one stretch of the river has repeatedly been shown to have e.coli, which impacts swimmers, anglers, and rafters downstream. To address the issue, PACD and the City of Lander have been working with a property owner to address a sewage problem. Because bringing the property into compliance would have broad community impact, PACD reached out to LOR for helping bridging the funding gap—and with LOR’s help the district is able to purchase new equipment for the property’s sewage system and address the issues of contamination.
