A Care Closet Ensures Lander Teens in Need Have Access to Food, Clothing, and Hygiene Supplies

  • Local Champion: Fremont County School District #1
  • Date Funded: February 23, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $9,886

Roughly half of the students at Pathfinder High School lack access to basic needs like snacks, hygiene products, and appropriate clothing, which affects their ability to concentrate in school and connect with their peers. Recognizing this, the school counselor came up with an idea to launch a nook in Pathfinder High School that provides nutritious snacks, clean clothes, and hygiene products to students in need free of charge. The Pathfinder Care Closet will serve roughly 70 students in need at both Pathfinder and Lander Valley High School—and just needed a little boost to launch. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of equipment like a fridge, clothing racks and shelving as well as a year’s worth of clothing, snack, and hygiene supplies.
