A Simple Window AC Unit Ensures Food Safety at Lander’s Food Pantry

  • Local Champion: Lander United Methodist Church
  • Date Funded: July 27, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $148

Lander’s Good Samaritan Food Pantry serves as an important supplement to the Care and Share Food Bank. Open when the Lander United Methodist Church offices are, the Food Pantry allows clients to “shop” for goods that they don’t receive in prepackaged food boxes. The pantry’s south-facing window poses a challenge, though, in that temperatures regularly tick past 70 degrees—creating food safety issues. A volunteer came up with a solution: a window AC unit to keep the interior cool. LOR’s funding will help procure the window unit.
