A New Cortez Business Center Provides Affordable Coworking and Office Space

  • Local Champion: Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce
  • Date Funded: January 14, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $23,084

Cortez lacks affordable meeting and office space with a reliable internet connection, which limits local economic development opportunities. In 2021, after talking with the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce, a local property owner agreed to cover the cost of renovating a downtown building into coworking and office space that would be affordable to start-ups and nonprofits alike. All that was needed to bring the vision for an affordable coworking facility and Business Resource Center to life was office furniture. The LOR Foundation was happy to support this community solution by providing a grant for the office furniture—and even rented one of the spaces for its Cortez office.

This project is fiscally sponsored by Onward! A Legacy Foundation
