With School Upgrades, Monte Vista Teachers Focus on Their Physical Health

  • Local Champion: Monte Vista Schools
  • Date Funded: April 17, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $14,550

Due to staff shortages in the wake of the pandemic, Monte Vista educators and school staff have had insufficient time to focus on their own physical health—particularly in terms of exercise and eating healthy food. A teacher brought this issue to the attention of LOR Foundation with a potential solution: purchasing supplies that would help teachers focus on their health while they are at school. With a grant from LOR, Monte Vista Middle School and High School purchased exercise equipment including a treadmill, an elliptical machine, and a stationary bike, in addition to new refrigerators, microwaves, and televisions in a common area where they can unwind. The enhancements are meant to improve both the staff’s physical health as well as their sense of appreciation.
