Vehicle Connects Taos Residents to New Detox and Recovery Center

  • Local Champion: Rio Grande Alcohol Treatment Center Inc.
  • Date Funded: June 9, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $30,000

Individuals experiencing substance use disorders in Taos have long lacked reliable transportation to detox and recovery resources—leading to missed appointments, interrupted care, and a higher risk of relapse or crisis. To help address this fundamental infrastructure challenge, a staff member at the new Taos Detox & Recovery Center approached LOR with a solution: purchase a dedicated vehicle to enable staff and peer support workers to safely and confidentially transport individuals to treatment and other essential services. With support from LOR, Rio Grande ATP will purchase an all-wheel-drive, five-passenger SUV for the Taos Detox & Recovery Center. This one-time investment in foundational transportation infrastructure will help establish program stability from launch and strengthen long-term recovery outcomes across Taos County.
