Taos Schools Show Appreciation for Educators

  • Local Champion: Taos Municipal Schools
  • Date Funded: May 9, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $4,950

Taos Municipal Schools currently has more than 45 vacant teaching positions and a significant substitute shortage, leaving schools understaffed and educators feeling frustrated, exhausted, and, at times, undervalued. To address this and boost morale, district staff wanted to show appreciation for school staff by hosting a thank-you lunch that acknowledges the teachers’ efforts. They just needed a little help in order to provide lunch for the more than 300 staff who would attend, as well as some tokens of appreciation like gift certificates. LOR’s funding helped cover the cost of lunch from Taos culinary arts students and other luncheon supplies.
