Taos Launches A Free Trauma-Informed Community Play Space

Many children in Taos have experienced trauma, but there are no trauma-informed spaces that provide healthy outlets for children, teachers, and families to build resilience. Educators and mental health experts want to change that. Working with other mental health practitioners, Imagine Taos, an interactive art and creation space, championed one potential way to address this problem: Create a free community space with Taos’ first trauma-informed space for play, workshops for teachers and mental health professionals, and learning stations for youth to ease trauma resolution and promote healthy socialization. LOR’s funding will support the launch of this new community asset in Taos, which will be available to children, families, educators, and mental health professionals at no cost.
