Storage Solutions Create Space for Cortez’s Young Pilots

Around 15 Cortez kids meet weekly to learn flight skills, leadership, and STEM concepts as a part of the Civil Air Patrol’s Cadet Program, but rapid growth has left their meeting space at the American Legion crowded and difficult to use. Seeing how the clutter and disorganization overwhelmed both youth participants and volunteer leaders, one squadron commander had an idea to transform the space. LOR’s funding helped the Mesa Verde Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol purchase storage shelves, garment racks, storage totes, room dividers, and bookshelves to organize uniforms and supplies. The reorganized space now allows youth to focus on meaningful learning activities, giving them skills that could lead to careers in aviation or the military after high school.
