Storage Equipment Extends the Shelf Life of Questa Produce

  • Local Champion: Localogy
  • Date Funded: March 14, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $25,000

Without proper processing and storage equipment, Questa farmers struggle to bring locally grown produce to market before it spoils, limiting both their income potential and the community’s access to fresh food. When leaders of Localogy’s Cultivo agricultural project saw how much of their harvest went to waste due to processing bottlenecks, they reached out to LOR with a solution. LOR’s funding will help Localogy purchase a barrel washer, sorting tables, refrigeration systems, and build a food-safe storage facility in Questa. These improvements will allow local farmers to wash, process, and store root vegetables and other crops up to ten times more efficiently, extending shelf life while connecting Questa’s agricultural community to broader regional markets.
