Security Boxes Help Libby Volunteers Keep A Local Park Clean

  • Local Champion: A Libby local
  • Date Funded: August 2, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $205

One of Libby’s most dedicated locals just won’t give up. After receiving a LOR grant that helped her clean up Jerry Dean Park, one 15-year-old Libby resident found that vandals were starting to derail her progress. The vandals ripped out and dented the new trash cans she had purchased and installed, undermining her successful efforts (because of her work other Libby locals were bringing their own trash bags and cleaning up the park as well). Her latest idea was to install wooden boxes that would house the trash bins, preventing further vandalism. LOR’s funding helped the local purchase the wood and hardware supplies she needed to build the boxes and lay the groundwork for a permanent solution to the park’s litter problem.

This project was fiscally sponsored by Kootenai Country Montana.
