Search and Rescue Equipment Helps Weiser Volunteers Keep Up with Growing Demand

  • Local Champion: Washington County Sheriff Department
  • Date Funded: September 27, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $9,993

As Weiser has grown, so has the number of people recreating in nearby areas, leading to more calls for help from Washington County Search and Rescue. The problem is the volunteer organization’s 25 members lack the essential equipment they need to safely respond to the growing demand. When one search and rescue volunteer noticed the swell in rescue calls, she reached out to LOR with an idea to fill in the gaps in the group’s supplies. LOR’s funding will help Washington County Search and Rescue purchase new equipment, including radios, a stretcher, tourniquets, and Stop the Bleed kits, ensuring volunteers can respond quickly and effectively and continue to keep Weiser locals and visitors safe.
