Safer Pathways and a New Trailhead Map Open up Outdoor Space in Questa

  • Local Champion: Village Of Questa
  • Date Funded: June 27, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $22,000

The Village of Questa is responsible for maintaining all of the roads within village limits and the trails associated with a nearby river restoration project. However, the tractor attachments used by Questa’s Public Works crew could not service the smaller roadways or trails, leading to unsafe overgrowth that disrupted local access. In addition to being overgrown, many of the trails were unmarked and, therefore, underutilized. So, Village employees approached LOR with a two-part idea: 1. purchase compatible tractor attachments that would allow crew members to keep roads and trails clear and 2. design a trailhead map to ensure all community members have complete knowledge of Questa’s extensive walking and biking pathways.

LOR’s support will fund five critical attachments and tools, as well as the development and distribution of a new river restoration trail map, highlighting points of interest.
