Roll On: Bowling Equipment Helps Taos Special Olympics Athletes

  • Local Champion: Special Olympics New Mexico, Inc
  • Date Funded: November 13, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $5,700

Special Olympics athletes in Taos lack proper equipment to participate in bowling, one of few opportunities for individuals with special needs to engage in locally. Moreover, securing lanes on a weekly basis was becoming a significant financial hurdle for Special Olympics of New Mexico. With this problem in mind, a Taos local reached out to the LOR Foundation, and with LOR’s support, the local Special Olympics organizers were able to purchase bowling shoes, balls, uniforms, and a ramp. LOR’s funding will also be used to rent lanes at the bowling alley weekly for at least one year, an opportunity that will keep the athletes involved.
