Renovated Digs for Fido Mean Fewer Strays in Monte Vista

  • Local Champion: Upper Rio Grande Conour Animal Society Animal Shelter
  • Date Funded: July 26, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $23,800

Rio Grande County currently has more stray dogs than the Conour Animal Shelter can currently house. A local teacher and volunteer with the shelter suggested that renovating one of the kennel areas would not only allow the shelter to house more animals, but also ensure that caring for them would be easier and cleaner. She reached out to LOR for help getting the project off the ground. LOR’s funding will support the renovation of the space with concrete floors, fences, and other kennel equipment, and also allow the shelter to purchase a washer and dryer for soiled blankets and towels.
