Radios Connect Weiser’s Emergency Responders

  • Local Champion: Weiser Area Rural Fire District
  • Date Funded: November 27, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $9,900

During emergency situations, firefighters with the Weiser Area Rural Fire District’s struggle to maintain vital communication with dispatch and other emergency services due to outdated radio equipment—a critical safety issue for both urban and wildland fire response. When a long-time fire district volunteer saw how this communication gap endangered first responders and hampered their ability to coordinate a response, she reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the Weiser Area Rural Fire District purchase three field-programmable, high-wattage mobile radios for the agency’s fire trucks, enhancing emergency response capabilities across Weiser while keeping the community’s dedicated volunteer firefighters safer in the field.
