Radios and Pagers Keep Libby Ambulance Volunteers Connected

  • Local Champion: Libby Volunteer Ambulance Service
  • Date Funded: August 7, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $9,023

Until recently, the Libby Volunteer Ambulance Service was running a skeleton crew. But after a LOR-hosted volunteer drive, the group brought on nearly 10 new emergency medical technicians (EMTs). It was a welcome development, helping the only ambulance service provider in Libby shore up its ranks. But the growth also left the nonprofit—which is run entirely by volunteers—short on essential communications equipment like radios and pagers. One volunteer had the idea to purchase more radios that could link all of the service’s EMTs to dispatch, but they needed a little support so they reached out to LOR. LOR’s funding will help the Libby Volunteer Ambulance Service buy 10 pagers and 10 radios, allowing volunteers to respond to emergencies within minutes.
