Questa Adds a Solution for When Nature’s Call Interferes With Potential Shopping

  • Local Champion: Questa Economic Development Fund
  • Date Funded: May 5, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $3,600

Questa has a bit of a delicate dilemma: It does not have a public restroom in its downtown business area, which means that shoppers in need must either rely on the generosity of local businesses or potentially abandon their shopping when nature calls. While the Questa Visitor Center has a public bathroom, it’s only available when the center is open (May 31 through Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Staff at the Questa Economic Development Fund came up with an idea to address this challenge: Add an accessible public porta-potty at the visitor center to help keep people patronizing local businesses for longer—and eliminate the long lines for the visitor center restroom during the Farmers Market. The bathroom will also help assist QEDF in identifying if there is a need for a more permanent structure. LOR’s support will help procure an accessible bathroom, hand-washing station, and other equipment like soap and paper towels.
