Protective Vests Improve Safety for Weiser’s Deputies

  • Local Champion: Washington County Sheriff Department
  • Date Funded: June 24, 2026
  • Grant Amount: $10,000

Population growth has brought increased traffic and a rise in calls for Weiser’s sheriff’s deputies, placing them in more demanding and high-risk situations. At the same, their equipment is aging and deteriorating. One community member serving with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Weiser Area Rural Fire District, and Washington County Search and Rescue wanted to ensure officers were protected in the field, so he reached out to LOR with an idea. LOR’s funding will help the Washington County Sheriff’s Office purchase 13 protective vests for patrol deputies. The investment will improve officer safety, support operational readiness, and ensure that neither equipment limitations do not place deputies or the community at greater risk.
