On Belay: A Local Group Makes Climbing Instruction Available to All Lander Students

  • Local Champion: Central Wyoming Climbers' Alliance
  • Date Funded: May 2, 2024
  • Grant Amount: $12,070

While Lander is renowned rock climbing destination, many local students don’t have the opportunity or access to try the sport because of a lack of resources (financial, gear, knowledge, etc.). Staff at Central Wyoming Climbers’ Alliance wanted to change that with free climbing instruction for all Lander students. CWCA already provides a day of climbing to students at Baldwin Creek Elementary, but doesn’t have the resources to pay for the additional instructors required to expand the program to all the schools in the district. They reached out to LOR for help launching the initiative. LOR’s funding will help cover the cost of at least one day of climbing instruction for students at all five Fremont County School District #1 schools.
