New Vehicles Ensure Continued Services for Lander’s Youngest Residents

  • Local Champion: Child Development Services of Fremont County Lander
  • Date Funded: March 18, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $20,000

In Lander, 110 children under age three with developmental delays or disabilities receive crucial therapy services in their homes and day cares through Child Development Services (CDS). When three agency vehicles were unexpectedly put out of commission through damage or breaking down within a single year—an unusual occurrence far beyond the normal replacement schedule—therapists began scrambling to coordinate around the one remaining vehicle or using personal cars, creating insurance complications and threatening service continuity. When a CDS family liaison recognized this urgent situation, she reached out to LOR for support. LOR’s funding will help purchase two small vehicles, complementing fundraising from Lander Ambassadors and discounts from Fremont Motors. These vehicles will allow therapists to reliably reach children at nine different childcare facilities and family homes throughout Lander, while also providing transportation for families without other options to access food banks, social services, and medical appointments in larger cities.
