New Timing Equipment Keeps Cortez Swimmers Afloat

  • Local Champion: Cortez Water Dragons
  • Date Funded: September 8, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $3,100

Cortez’s outdoor pool is one of a kind on the Western Slope, as it’s one of the few places that can host large regional swim meets. However, the Cortez Water Dragons are at risk of losing those meets if they can’t provide appropriate timing equipment—primarily touchpads—and off-season storage. The president of the club reached out to the LOR Foundation with this problem in mind, and with LOR’s help the Water Dragons were able to purchase a storage rack and timing touchpads to support an in-water timing system and ensure they can continue to host meets, which are an economic boon for the club and the whole town.
