New Equipment Ensures Safety for Volunteers and Access to Lander’s Winter Trails

  • Local Champion: Lander Cycling Club
  • Date Funded: February 4, 2025
  • Grant Amount: $8,186

In Lander, residents enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking on groomed trails throughout Sinks Canyon during the winter months. But behind the scenes, a small group of dedicated volunteers has been struggling with outdated, difficult-to-handle equipment; in fact it’s so heavy, only three volunteers are strong enough to use it. Recognizing new equipment would make it easier for more people to help groom the trails, one volunteer came to LOR’s with the idea to purchase grooming equipment with safety features like power steering, making it easier to manage on narrow sections of trail while reducing the physical strain on operators. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of a new snow machine and groomer, allowing more community members to volunteer and ensuring Lander’s winter recreation opportunities remain accessible.
