Monte Vista Makes the Season Bright for Local Businesses

  • Local Champion: City of Monte Vista
  • Date Funded: September 26, 2022
  • Grant Amount: $6,000

Monte Vista’s downtown business area is dark and uninviting on winter nights, making residents and visitors less likely to feel safe and thus to shop. This problem really puts a dent in holiday shopping during the darkest part of the year. The city reached out to LOR with a simple lighting solution that would help give an economic boost to local businesses: Purchase and install holiday lights in the downtown area to improve walkability and safety for residents. LOR’s funding will support the purchase of lighting that can be used during the holiday season—and in subsequent winters, making the (shopping) season bright for many years to come.
