Mindfulness Programming Sets Taos Students Up for Success

  • Local Champion: Taos Integrated School of the Arts
  • Date Funded: November 16, 2023
  • Grant Amount: $15,000

In recent years, the rates of anxiety and depression among children in the US have increased significantly. Many young students in Taos are unable to maximize their learning potential due to struggles with stress, depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and/or anger, and most don’t have access to mental health services or strategies. Hoping to solve this problem by providing local youth with lifelong emotional regulation tools, including meditation and mindful movement practices, a teacher from the Taos Integrated School of the Arts contacted LOR for help. With LOR’s support, the school will bring in an instructor to provide over 100 hours of yoga and mindfulness programming to students in grades K-8.
